Neuro Linguistic Psychotherapy is a specialised form of Neuro Linguistic Programming, NLP. The idea is that we work from and react to the world as we construct it from our experiences rather than directly from the "real world". Change can be quite quick.
It will give you the opportunity to understand how and why you do and think the way that you do. The main aim is to use this understanding to improve our lives by making changes that seek to achieve our goals and dreams.
NLP, or Neuro-Linguistic Programming, is the science of how the brain codes learning and experience. This coding affects all communication and behavior. It affects how you learn and how you experience the world around you. It is a key to reaching goals and achieving excellence.
Children are much easier clients than adults as their minds are more open to the idea of improvement. They have not received the same conditioning from life that adults have. This means that results occur much more quickly when working with children. I may ask parents to support their child throughout, in a variety of ways, and this may usually involve others within the family behaving or reacting in new ways.
Since I usually work alone with the child after the initial consultation involving the child and parent(s) I am able to build up good rapport with the child, and this way the child will usually express themselves a little better when their parents are not around. This is because when the parents are in the room, they would tend to let their parents do most of the talking and thinking!
