Mindyourstep - Time For Change?

Hypnotherapy is medically accepted to benefit the following and more:

smoking, nail biting, bed wetting, weight control / healthy eating, improve work / study / sporting performance, boost self-confidence and achieving potential, phobias, compulsions, emotional problems, sleep problems, inhibitions, worries, reduce stress, tension and blood pressure, stomach problems, IBS, gynaecological problems - PMT, psychogenic infertility, obstetrics (painless childbirth), skin problems, pain control, minor surgery, dentistry, arthritic pains, aches and pains, some sexual problems...

Ericksonian hypnotherapy uses more of what it is called indirect suggestions. Indirect suggestions are much harder to resist because they are often not even recognized as suggestions by the conscious mind, since they usually disguise themselves as stories or metaphors.  An example of an indirect suggestion is "and perhaps your eyes will grow tried as you listen to this story, and you will want to close them, because people can, you know, experience a pleasant, deepening sense of comfort as they allow their eyes to close, and they relax deeply."  This would all be said in such a way as to mark out key words and phrases by subtle shifts in the tone of voice.  The person's unconscious awareness thus responds to these "embedded commands."

How do children respond?
Children are great to work with because they are imaginative and haven’t usually seen the stage shows which give such a mistaken impression of what hypnosis really is.

What happens in the session?
The first part consists of a chat to find out what your child doesn’t like about the problem situation as it is and check out how they would prefer to be thinking, feeling and behaving instead.  The main focus is on the solution rather than on the problem.

The second part is the lightly hypnotic relaxation with gentle yet powerful positive suggestions.

Can I attend the session with my child?
Yes, certainly you are very welcome to be in the treatment room if your child is more comfortable with you there.  Nonetheless, my focus is on talking directly to your child rather than talking about them as can happen sometimes in other situations.

The benefits of Hypnotherapy can be long lasting and often permanent.  It is natural and safe, with no harmful side effects
